Camping season is officially here, and let’s be real... the best part of every trip? The FOOD. There’s just something about cooking under the stars that makes everything taste better.
We’ve been testing out a few easy camping recipes recently, and these six meals totally hit the spot: simple, flavorful, and made right at the campsite.
Here’s what we’ve been cooking lately, and what you might want to add to your next camp menu.
Sausage and Peppers (Camp Stove)
Ingredients
1 package of sausage (pork, turkey, or plant-based)
2 bell peppers, sliced
1 onion, sliced
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: Tomato sauce
Optional: Buns
InstructionsHeat olive oil in a skillet over your camp stove. Add sliced onions and peppers; sauté until lightly charred. Add sausage slices (or whole links) and cook until heated through and golden. Serve on buns or over rice for a hearty meal.
Campfire Nachos (Cast Iron Skillet)
Ingredients
Tortilla chips
1 can black beans (drained)
1 Packet of Pre-Cooked Chicken (this makes it super easy, but you could grill your own)
1 cup shredded cheese (we shred our own cheddar)
½ cup diced tomatoes
¼ cup sliced jalapeños
¼ cup corn
Sour cream and salsa for topping
Instructions: Layer chips, beans, cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños, and corn in a cast iron skillet. Place over low flame or hot coals, cover loosely with foil, and heat until cheese melts. Serve directly from the skillet with your favorite toppings.
Skillet Breakfast (Cast Iron Skillet)
Ingredients
4 slices bacon or sausage
4 eggs
2 cups diced potatoes (or frozen hash browns)
½ cup shredded cheese
Salt, pepper, and green onions to taste
Instructions Cook bacon or sausage in the skillet first, then set aside. In the same pan, sauté potatoes until crispy. Crack eggs directly into the skillet and cook sunny-side up or scrambled. Sprinkle with cheese and green onions for a complete breakfast.

Chicken Caesar Wraps (Camp Stove)
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
Olive oil, salt, and pepper
Caesar dressing
Romaine lettuce, chopped
Parmesan cheese
Hard Boiled Eggs
Sliced Onion
Sourdough Bread for Optional Croutons!
Flour tortillas
Instructions Grill chicken on the camp stove until fully cooked and slightly charred. Slice and toss with Caesar dressing, lettuce, and Parmesan. Wrap it all up in a tortilla for a fresh, filling lunch. Boil eggs and make your own dressing to make this extra yum!
Stuffed Sweet Potatoes (Direct Fire)
Ingredients
Sweet potatoes (one per person)
Butter or olive oil
Taco Seasoning
Optional toppings: black beans, corn, avocado, shredded cheese, slaw, pickled jalapeños, avocado / guacamole, green onion, sour cream, pico de gallo or salsa
Instructions: Wrap each sweet potato tightly in foil and place directly in the campfire coals for 20–30 minutes. Once soft, carefully unwrap, cut open, and add your favorite toppings for a smoky, sweet treat.
Steak and Veggies (Open Fire Grill)
Ingredients
Your favorite steak cut
Choice of Vegetable: Roasted Brussels, Broccoli, Green Beans...
Olive oil, salt, and your favorite seasoning blend
Instructions: Brush steak and veggies with olive oil and season generously. Grill over the fire, flipping occasionally until cooked to your desired doneness. Rest steak a few minutes before serving with charred veggies on the side.
