Honestly, I’m an “Experiences over Things” kind of person - and so is my husband. So generally, we’re pretty particular about what we get for each other.
But one of our huge passions in life is the outdoors, and the outdoors can be a lot more fun (and comfortable) with the right gear and accessories. Our setup is pretty sweet these days, and I’m actually not sure what to get him this year - so instead, I’m sharing what I’ve gotten him in the past that he still uses and loves.
Outdoor hobbies happen to have lots of gear involved, but gear is half the fun, right?

For the Camping Enthusiast
When the sounds of nature are not enough, this rugged Bluetooth speaker is one of the best we’ve found. Especially if you’re as rough on things as we are — this thing is nearly indestructible while still being lightweight. Did I mention it also doubles as a carrying case (made of actual pelican case) for your stuff? → Shop the DemerBox ($399)
Our favorite is the FSR gas stove. It’s sturdy yet packs down super small for camping. We’ve even used it on our back porch just to avoid firing up the big grill! But before we had the FSR stove we used the classic Coleman double burner ($130), still a great option, but less cool gift-wise. → Shop the FSR Stove (On Sale For $101.25)
Huge coffee lovers here! There are many setups to choose from, but our fave is the classic percolator ($59.99). They aren’t super expensive or bulky, but they make a great gift — especially paired with an camping kettle , enamel espresso cups (we love these by BareBones Living on sale for $8.49 for 2), a portable grinder (GSI $39.95), and a bag of your favorite coffee. → Shop Coffee Gear
If you camp a lot you are going to have to sh*t in the woods, why not have a cool, discreet, handy dandy little tool to do it with? This has a "micro shovel" wipes, and tabs that help your poo biodegrade faster. Pretty fun tool, might also be good for a pollyanna or anyone who loves a good poop joke... → Shop Poop Shovels
While we are on the subject of poo, lets chit chat about how nice it is to have a clean butt. I personally don't think flimsy paper is good enough for my precious derrière and I don't like wipes because then you have to dispose of them and they are wasteful. Enter the bidet, a perfect invention that now has been made portable enough to take in the outdoors. Seems a little crazy… until you get one. A little bit of luxury in the backcountry goes a long way.→ Shop Portable Bidets
If you are not a fan of pooping in a hole, maybe backcountry camping is not for you. Thats fine. One of the best purchases we ever made was our first van, Vincent Van Go and we have since had a sailboat, a sprinter, a C-Class RV, and are moving on to a trailer this winter. But the point is you can bring a toilet camping with you! Its one of the best perks. Among so many others. If you don't want to spend your entire bank account on an adventure vehicle, you could surprise your partner with a van/RV rental! There are some super cool services like RVezy, Native Campervans, RV Share, Outdoorsy, Road Surfer, you get it.
Need I say more? My husband goes nowhere without a knife — and has about ten of them stashed in different places.→ Shop Knives
This changed the game for us while camping. Being able to charge gear and power fun things makes a huge difference! → Shop Solar Banks
If you don’t already have one, this is a must. Perfect for chopping wood and feeling super manly. A hatchet is nice to have as well, and if your man is anything like mine then really anything fire related at all will be a win ;) → Shop Axes
I actually bought these for the whole family last year and I regret nothing - the pink ones especially look cute on our 3 year old, but I adore mine as well. So nice when the weather gets colder but you still want to be outside. You basically can’t ruin them, and they last forever.→ Shop Carhartts ($150)
At first, I was like, “That’s ridiculous, who needs heated chairs?” and then I tried them — and now I prefer a warm butt at all times. Plus, the ones by Portal Outdoors swing, which is super relaxing and fun.→ Shop Heated Chairs
If you’re ready to buy the big-ticket item that will completely upgrade your camping setup forever — this is it. I didn’t realize how annoying dealing with ice was until I didn’t have to anymore. Keeps us out there way longer! (You’ll want that solar battery bank for this one, though you can plug it into your vehicle as well.) We have the Dometic CFX2 37 and its expensive AF ($770) but its perfection. → Shop Electric Coolers
These Astral Shoes have hands-down been my husbands favorite everything shoe. They are barefoot style so good for the feet, lightweight for hiking, fast drying for wet conditions, and just a great overall shoe (I have the women's size actaully and love them as well). → Shop Astral
Been thinking about one? DO IT. We’ve had so many fun adventures in our FSR rooftop tent. It has a king bed, memory foam mattress, and pops up super fast. It takes camping into that “glamping” category that gets you out there more often — and for longer. This one’s definitely a luxury item (probably a family decision!), but worth it.→ Shop Rooftop Tents
Okay, not the most exciting gift, but super practical. You need a camping table for all those epic backcountry meals — and let’s be honest, we all know food tastes better outside. This one packs down small but is sturdy and long-lasting.→ Shop Camping Tables
Do these need a description? Nope. But they’re fun, handy, and essential for wildlife watching and scouting your next adventure spot.→ Shop Binoculars
Throwing this in here because its the most affordable dirt bike out there and its such an EPIC gift that if you can spring the almost $1k you will probably have the happiest partner ever. Plus then you get to ride it, win/win. → Shop Electric Dirt Bikes
Sneaking this last one in because, honestly, its an easy win for just about anyone even if clothing is a kinda boring gift. I even love a good pair of socks. These are some of our favorite items that are durable, warm, and camping-vibe aesthetic approved: overalls, a good flannel, Camp pants, the classic henly shirt , puffy insulated camping slippers.→ Shop Outdoor Apparel
Stocking Stuffers for the Outdoor Guy
Or just give him what he really wants, a blowjob. I don't care. I spent way too much time writing this guide when the best gift is usually just spending time together. Anyhow, hope you have a kickass awesome holiday and that your partner buys you an Earth Roamer and give you a million dollars.
Love,
Emily of Adventurefamdam
