Colorado Ski Moms: Tips, Gear, and Community for Family Skiing Success

If you’re a mom in Colorado, you already know: ski season isn’t just a hobby, it’s a whole lifestyle. It’s early mornings, frozen zippers, pockets filled with snacks, parking-lot meltdowns, random socks everywhere… and those magical moments when your kid links their first turns and your heart basically explodes.
But here’s the truth:Skiing with kids is incredible — and also really hard to do alone.
That’s exactly why I created the Colorado Ski Moms Facebook Group.
I wanted a space where Colorado moms could connect in a real, meaningful way — a place where winter feels lighter, skiing feels easier, and adventure feels more possible (with or without the kids in tow).
Why I Created This Space for Colorado Ski Moms
I built this group because I kept hearing the same things from parents:Skiing is fun… but figuring it all out is overwhelming.
Passes, gear, resorts, childcare, nap schedules, snow conditions, costs, it’s a lot. And it’s even more when you’re doing it alone.
So I created a community where we can all connect in hopes that we can have more fun on the hill together, as families, as moms, and as friends.
This community is meant to feel like your ski-season village. A place to:
Join or plan family meetups so kids can ski with other kids
Find another mom to hang out with in the lodge while your partner gets a few runs in
Pair up with another mom skier (including total beginners!)
Build a support system where kids encourage kids
Organize events and meetups that bring us together
Share tips that make winter + parenting less chaotic
Make skiing more accessible, more affordable, and more fun
Colorado is full of adventurous families — we just needed a central place to find each other.

What Moms Are Already Asking in the Group
I love that the group became useful from day one. These are real questions moms are already asking, the exact things you can’t just Google:
“What passes are we getting this year?”
“Anyone here who uphill skis?”
“Any backcountry skiers?”
“Looking for a ski mom friend who is also a novice!”
“Tips for getting toddlers on skis?”
“I have a 6-month-old — where can I find a used KidRunner SKI system?”
“First time taking the kids (2 and 5). Where’s the best place to get gear for them?”
These conversations are practical, supportive, and mom-to-mom.This is exactly why this group exists.

Top Tips for Skiing With Kids in Colorado
Here are some of the most-loved pieces of advice shared in the group:
Layer smart, not bulky. Warm base layers = happy kids.
Pack double the snacks you think you need. Trust me.
Arrive earlier than you think. Parking + kids = slow.
Choose beginner-friendly mountains. Keystone, Eldora, Copper, Granby Ranch are favorites.
Let go of the “perfect ski day.” Two runs can still be a win.
Make it fun first. Kids learn faster when they’re happy.
