Rig Tour: Arkto Campers Overland Trailers | Light Weight, No Wood, Canadian Made

We spent last weekend touring rig of all kinds at Overland Expo East. Our first rig tour of the weekend: Arkto Campers. These folks rolled in from Edmonton, Alberta with two of their standout off-road trailers: the tried-and-true G12 and the brand-new C10. Both models showcase Arkto’s commitment to rugged durability, smart design, and maximizing storage and functionality for life on the road.

Built to Last: All-Aluminum and Composite Construction

Arkto Campers doesn’t use any wood in their builds. Instead, the trailers feature all-aluminum framing and composite panels, making them lighter, stronger, and resistant to rot. Every detail is designed with longevity in mind, from the HDPE countertops in the kitchens to the hot-dip galvanized steel chassis—a process that can give the frame up to a 75-year lifespan against rust.

Outdoor Kitchens That Stand Out

One of Arkto’s big “claims to fame” is their outdoor kitchen setup, and it’s easy to see why.

  • Pantry with power: cigarette lighter plugs, USB ports, and 110V receptacles built right inside.

  • Two-burner stove plus fold-down prep deck.

  • 75L 12V fridge/freezer mounted on heavy-duty 500 lb drawer slides, bolted directly through the chassis for strength.

  • Dedicated spots for cutlery, spices, soap, scrub brushes, and even a tea towel rack.

It’s a true chef’s space on the road, offering more function and storage than most trailers in its class.

The G12: Rugged and Spacious

The G12 has been Arkto’s flagship for several years, and it’s built for serious adventures.

  • Storage: Over 105 cubic feet, including a massive 6 ft deep tongue box (big enough for skis, fishing rods, or a snowboard) and a rear “garage” for chairs, fire pits, and more.

  • Systems: A 37-gallon freshwater tank, MPPT solar charge controller, shore power, DC-DC charger, and a Truma Combi furnace/hot water system.

  • Sleeping capacity: Up to five people with the optional bunk bed system. Standard setup includes a residential queen bed plus convertible seating for kids.

  • Electrical: Powered by a RedArc Manager 30 and Rogue system, with capacity for up to 960Ah of lithium batteries and 1,000W of solar.

Inside, the G12 surprises with its space. The pop-up roof offers 6’8” of standing room, and deep cabinetry provides storage galore. It’s a trailer designed to feel bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

The C10: The Compact Cub

Brand new to the lineup, the C10 (short for “Cub”) brings many of the G12’s best features into a lighter, more compact form—ideal for two travelers.

  • Same outdoor kitchen as the G12, with just a slightly smaller pantry.

  • Fridge/freezer access from inside the trailer for added convenience.

  • Storage-first design: clever compartments up front, a rear “garage,” wardrobe cubbies, and overhead cabinets.

  • Systems: 31-gallon water tank, Truma AquaGo hot water heater, and Truma VarioHeat furnace.

  • Sleeping: A tilt-down queen bed with cubbies on either side, plus space-efficient cabinetry and storage beneath the seating.

Though smaller, the C10 doesn’t skimp on essentials. It’s still all-aluminum and composite, with the same galvanized chassis, bike rack mount, and outdoor shower setup.
